The Amitayus Buddha Statue

Amitayus—the Buddha of Infinite Life, boundless vitality, and long-lasting merit—is the sambhogakaya expression of Amitabha Buddha. He appears in a peaceful form, holding the vase of immortality nectar (tshe bum), symbolizing the purification, extension, and enrichment of life force.

Practitioners rely on Amitayus to increase longevity, overcome life-threatening obstacles, purify karmic causes of illness, and create the conditions for a long and meaningful life dedicated to Dharma.

This 30 cm Amitayus statue has been meticulously filled, sealed, and consecrated, transforming it into a true nirmanakaya support for long-life practice. Its elegant proportions, refined detailing, and luminous colors embody Amitayus’s serene presence and immeasurable blessings.

Consecrated by Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodrö Rinpoche, the statue holds the powerful connection of the Kalachakra lineage and the Dzokden aspirations for a flourishing, long-lived community of practitioners. This was blessed in the 2025 Drolmi Kazug Puja, 21 Taras Empowerment and Red Vaisravana Empowerment in California.

The Motivation for Creating These Statues

Khentrul Rinpoche emphasizes that authentic Dharma supports must be filled and consecrated according to lineage tradition. An empty statue—however beautiful—lacks the vital conditions to function as a vessel of blessing.

This Amitayus statue was created with a core motivation:

1. To support practitioners in cultivating long life and merit.

Amitayus practice helps purify life-shortening karma, stabilize health, and increase the vitality needed for Dharma study, meditation, and service.

2. To provide a statue that is properly filled and blessed according to authentic methods.

High-quality, consecrated statues are increasingly rare. Rinpoche ensures that Dzokden offers only sacred supports filled with mantras, relics, and substances that create the conditions for genuine spiritual benefit.

The Relics and Consecration

Each Amitayus statue is filled with exceptional care, including:

  • Amitayus mantras, seed syllables, and dharanis

  • Holy relics and blessed substances from multiple Buddhist lineage

  • Blessed sand from various empowerments, including an Amitabha Empowerment

  • Special Amitayus longevity substances (tshe ril / mendrup) blessed by masters of the Nyingma traditions

  • Sacred materials supporting health, vitality, and the extension of life force

After filling, the statues undergo extensive consecration, including:

Drolmi Kazug (21 Tara) Empowerment and Puja
Red Vaisravana Holding Spear Empowerment
