Kurukullā (Tib. Rigjé Kyema) is the enlightened feminine yidam associated with magnetizing activity (dbang gi las), one of the four enlightened activities in Vajrayana Buddhism. Magnetizing activity refers not to ordinary control, but to the ability to gather favorable conditions, harmonize relationships, attract supportive circumstances, and draw beings toward virtue and awakening through wisdom and compassion.
As an emanation of enlightened mind, Kurukullā is traditionally practiced to remove obstacles arising from disharmony, misalignment, or scattered intention, and to enhance clarity, confidence, and inspired action on the path. Her practice supports the transformation of desire into discriminating wisdom and is often relied upon when one seeks to unite method and wisdom in compassionate activity.
Prayer flags bearing Kurukullā’s image are hung to symbolically release prayers and aspirations into the environment, serving as a reminder of enlightened magnetizing activity and the practitioner’s intention to benefit self and others. They are suitable for personal practice spaces, retreat environments, or outdoor display.
