Product Description

These authentic Kalachakra tsa tsas were originally created as sacred offerings to be placed within the Kalachakra Stupa at Dzokden Kalapa. During the consecration of the stupa, they received the blessings of the Venerable Jhado Rinpoche together with the monks of Namgyal Monastery, the historic monastery of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Only a limited number remained after the completion of the stupa. These are the remaining tsa tsas from that sacred project, making them a rare opportunity to receive an object directly connected with the creation and consecration of a major Kalachakra monument that is in Austria at Dzokden Kalapa.

The Meaning of the Kalachakra Symbol

The sacred emblem depicted on this tsa tsa is known as the Namchu Wangden (Tib. rNam bCu dBang lDan), or "The Tenfold Powerful One." It is the principal symbol of the Kalachakra Tantra and one of the most recognizable sacred emblems in all of Tibetan Buddhism.

Rather than being a simple decorative design, the Namchu Wangden is a visual form of the Kalachakra mantra itself. The symbol combines the ten seed syllables of the Kalachakra Tantra into a single monogram, representing the complete path of the Kalachakra teachings—the Outer, Inner, and Alternative (Secret) Kalachakra—within one sacred form.

Traditionally, the Tenfold Powerful One is regarded as embodying the enlightened body, speech, mind, wisdom, and activities of Buddha Kalachakra. For this reason, it is frequently placed on temples, stupas, homes, prayer flags, and sacred objects throughout the Himalayan Buddhist world as a support for blessing, protection, and the cultivation of wisdom.

The Kalachakra Mantra

The complete Kalachakra mantra begins:

Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Hoḥ Haṃ Kṣa Ma La Va Ra Ya Hūṃ Phaṭ

The first four syllables—Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Hoḥ—represent the purified body, speech, mind, and wisdom of all Buddhas. The remaining seed syllables are interwoven into the famous Kalachakra monogram, known as the Tenfold Powerful One. The moon, sun, and flame crowning the symbol complete the ten sacred elements from which it receives its name.
