Naga Medicine (Lu Men) – Traditional Herbal Offering Blend
This Naga Medicine is a traditional offering substance prepared for Naga water offerings according to the Jonang Tradition. It is used in both the 21 Taras Wish-Fulfilling Vase Practice (Drolmi Kazug Puja) and the Naga Offering Puja, following the instructions of Lama Lodrö Drakpa.
This blend was specially prepared for the January 2021 Drolmi Kazug Puja in Hong Kong, where Khentrul Rinpoche and the monastic sangha followed the traditional liturgical instructions to combine and grind the offering substances into a single sacred medicine.
The formula contains an extensive collection of rare herbs, minerals and precious offering substances traditionally prescribed for naga offerings. Among them are rare Blue and Red Himalayan Poppy, White and Red Primula, Nardostachys jatamansi (Spikenard), Gentian, Noble Dendrobium, White and Red Sandalwood, Frankincense, Borneol, Ceylon Ironwood, Actinolite, as well as precious substances including gold, silver, pearls, and other traditional ingredients prepared according to the lineage instructions. These are only a few examples from a much larger traditional formula.
Only a very small amount is required for each offering. Simply add a pinch of the medicine to your offering water before performing the practice. Because so little is needed, a single packet will last for many offerings.
