Standing Tara Statue Details

These elegant standing Tara statues represent one of the Twenty-One Manifestations of Ārya Tārā, the Mother of All Buddhas and the embodiment of enlightened compassion in action.

Unlike the familiar seated Green Tara, these graceful standing forms express Tara's continual readiness to benefit beings. Standing in a wish-fulfilling posture, each manifestation embodies a unique enlightened activity while remaining an expression of the same awakened wisdom and compassion. They may be understood as individual forms of Tara or as distinct emanations of Green Tara, each revealing a particular enlightened quality through the sacred implement she carries. This collection includes twenty-one different standing manifestations of Tara.

Each statue depicts a unique form holding different sacred implements that symbolize a particular enlightened activity. In the individual product pages we identify the specific manifestation and explain the meaning of the implement she carries.

Across Tibetan Buddhist traditions there are several iconographic systems for the Twenty-One Taras. Some traditions distinguish them primarily by color, while others depict each Tara with unique symbolic implements representing different enlightened activities.

We recommend to see her as a manifestation of green tara and choose what resonates with you. If there is a distinct Tara to associate the statue with we will note it here.

These statues follow this rich iconographic tradition. Each Tara stands upon a lotus throne in a graceful posture of compassionate activity while holding the symbolic attributes associated with her particular manifestation. The individual implement held by each statue will be identified in the product listing for that specific Tara.

Rather than being decorative statues alone, they have been prepared as authentic supports for meditation, shrine practice, and the accumulation of merit through connection with the living Jonang lineage.

The Meaning of the Twenty-One Taras

Ārya Tara is renowned throughout Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna Buddhism as the swift liberator who responds immediately to the sincere prayers of beings.

Although we often speak of Green Tara as a single deity, the Twenty-One Taras reveal the many ways enlightened compassion manifests according to the needs of sentient beings. Some remove fears and obstacles, some increase wisdom, longevity, prosperity, or merit, while others display more magnetizing or wrathful activity to overcome difficult circumstances. All are inseparable expressions of Tara's awakened mind. We often practice the 21 Taras in relation to the Drolmi Kazug Puja in which every one of the 21 Taras is seen as a manifestation of Green Tara.

For this reason, practitioners often feel a special karmic connection with one particular Tara whose enlightened activity resonates with their own aspirations and circumstances.

The Motivation for Creating These Statues

Khentrul Rinpoche continually teaches that sacred statues should become authentic supports for Dharma practice through proper filling and consecration. A statue is not complete simply because it is beautifully made. It becomes a genuine support for realization through the sacred causes and conditions placed within it.

Creating these Tara statues fulfills several important purposes.

1. To provide an authentic support for Tara practice.

Whether one practices Green Tara, the Praises to the Twenty-One Taras, or simply wishes to cultivate compassion and wisdom, an authentically consecrated image becomes a powerful support for daily practice and offerings.

2. To preserve authentic lineage blessings.

Properly filled statues require rare substances, sacred mantras, qualified lamas, empowerments, and careful ritual preparation. As these conditions become increasingly rare, Khentrul Rinpoche wishes to preserve this authentic Buddhist tradition for future generations.

3. To create the best possible conditions for practitioners.

Rather than offering empty statues, every statue is traditionally prepared using authentic relics, mantra rolls, sacred pills, empowerment substances, and lineage blessings so practitioners receive a genuine support for their spiritual path.

We do not sell blessings. We create authentic Dharma supports according to the traditional methods preserved within the living Jonang lineage.

The Relics and Consecration

Following Khentrul Rinpoche's instructions, every Standing Tara statue was traditionally filled before consecration.

Each statue contains:

  • Traditional mantra rolls
  • Tara mantras associated with the Twenty-One Taras
  • Sacred Tara blessing pills
  • Numerous holy relics collected from multiple Buddhist traditions
  • Statue sand and sacred relic substances
  • Additional blessed substances gathered specifically for Tara practice

After being filled, every statue was blessed during the extensive Drolmi Kazug Auspicious Fortune Tower Puja conducted by Khentrul Rinpoche during the powerful 2025 Summer Solstice retreat.

During these ceremonies, the blessings of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas were invoked, with particular emphasis upon Ārya Tara, whose enlightened activity swiftly provides beings with everything needed for both worldly prosperity and ultimate liberation.

The statues were further blessed through the invocation of Red Vaiśravaṇa Holding the Spear, whose enlightened activity establishes the causes for lasting abundance, generosity, and the flourishing of Dharma throughout the world.

This consecration formed part of one of the most extensive blessing ceremonies ever undertaken by the global Dzokden community. Rare offerings, empowerment substances, sacred pills, relics, and holy materials were gathered from around the world over many months according to traditional Buddhist instructions.

To truly appreciate the blessings contained within these statues, one should remember the extraordinary causes and conditions required to gather these sacred substances, empowerment relics, mantra rolls, and authentic lineage blessings. Such conditions arise only through immense merit accumulated over countless lifetimes.

The Benefits of Meditating with the Statue
