A Small Reminder of Rinpoche’s Nomadic Childhood in the Mountains

In the spirit of remembering the Guru, our founder and Guru grew up herding yak and dri on the mountains of tibet. He used that time wisely to chant mantras showing us that we to can use our time in the car driving or walking around to chant mantras and focus on liberation.

For Tibetan families, these animals represented livelihood, nourishment, and wealth. Their hair was used to make tent cloth and other textiles, while their milk provided butter, cheese, and other foods essential to life on the Tibetan plateau. For those with a Drolmi Kazug alter setup this animal can represent the wealth of the world.

A fun fact many people do not realize: a yak is the male animal, while a dri is the female. So technically, there is no such thing as yak milk, yak butter, or yak cheese—those all come from the dri. Both males and females can have horns.

This toy is a playful way to remember a part of Rinpoche’s early life and the traditional Tibetan world that shaped him.
